Therapy is the process of discovery
Kerrie BannisterOnline Counselling
Online counselling is an effective alternative when traditional face to face counselling is not an option, for reasons such as;
- The current COVID-19 crisis; you can still access support without any health risk to yourself.
- Geographical location; you are not restricted to a service within easy driving distance. This is of particular benefit to those living in remote or regional areas.
- Work or family commitments that make getting to an appointment problematic.
- Transport or mobility constraints.
- Other issues that make leaving home difficult.
How does it work?
I offer online counselling through Skype, Zoom or FaceTime; these platforms are encrypted to ensure your confidentiality. We can discuss which platform is best suited to you through an initial phone conversation.
Is it right for you?
For online counselling to as beneficial as possible, there are a few things to think through;
- Do you have access to a quiet, safe and private space for the duration of the appointment time? You want to be able to ensure that you will not be interrupted or have others in the same room.
- Do you have access to a reliable Wi-Fi connection?
- If you are suffering from severe mental illness, online sessions may not be suitable for your needs.
- Online counselling is not a crisis service. If you need urgent help or feel you are in danger of harming yourself, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Mental Health Access Line on 1800 011 511.
